Acts 1:8 — Ends of the Earth Initiative

Where
No One
Else
Will Go.

ENDS trains national pastors in the most remote, unreached regions on earth. Not because it's easy. Because it's the only strategy with the reach, the roots, and the resolve to finish the task.

Our Conviction
"The ends of the earth will not be reached by those who can afford to go. They will be reached by those who already live there."

The frontier has always belonged to those closest to it. A national pastor speaks the language, knows the land, and cannot be deported. He is not a guest in the harvest — he is the harvest worker. We exist for one reason: to find him, train him, resource him, and release him to reach his people with the power of the gospel.

3.4B
People. Zero Gospel Access.
Three billion four hundred million human souls alive right now who have never heard the name of Jesus — not because the gospel hasn't reached their country, but because it hasn't reached their valley, their island, their mountain range. They are not unreachable. They are just unreached.
2%
Of Missions Dollars Reach the Unreached
Of every dollar given to global missions, less than two cents reaches the unreached. The rest funds infrastructure, personnel, and programs in already-reached regions. The frontier is chronically under-resourced.
400+
Languages With No Bible. Still.
Entire people groups exist whose language has never been put to paper with a single page of Scripture. A trained national leader — who knows that language — changes everything.
1
Western Missionary per 450,000 Unreached People
The math doesn't work. No sending organization can place enough Western missionaries to close the gap. National pastor training is not Plan B. It is the only plan with the arithmetic to finish the task.

Why We Send
Nationals.

Our mission is simple: finish the Great Commission by training the people already standing on the frontier. For two centuries the Western church has sent its own — and God has used them mightily. But the math of the remaining task has changed, and honesty about that math is not a betrayal of missionaries. It is a strategy for finishing what they started.

We honor every Western missionary who has gone. Many of the national churches we now partner with exist because someone crossed an ocean a century ago. What follows is not criticism — it is arithmetic.

The Western Missionary
Faithful — but costly, slow, and hard to keep on the field
Cost per year$100,000+ per family
Time before deployment2–4 yrs raising support
Language fluency3–5 years of study
Cultural distanceLearned as an outsider
Visa accessDenied or restricted in most unreached nations
AttritionUp to ~47% leave within the first 5 years
Furlough & re-entry1 of every 4–5 years off the field
The National Pastor
Already there. Already fluent. Already home.
Cost per year~$1,020 — fully trained & supported
Time before deploymentZero — he lives there
Language fluencyNative from birth
Cultural distanceNone — he is the culture
Visa accessNone needed. Cannot be deported
AttritionRooted for life — the field is home
Furlough & re-entryNone. The work never pauses
One Western missionary family, one year$100,000+
One national pastor — trained, resourced, supported, one year$1,020
×98

For the yearly cost of sending one Western family, nearly one hundred national pastors can be trained, resourced, and supported — each already fluent, already trusted, already home.

~2%
Of missions giving reaches the unreached — the frontier is chronically underfunded
3–5 yrs
For a Western worker to reach usable fluency — a national pastor starts preaching today
~47%
Of new missionaries leave the field within their first term — burnout, family, funding, visas
1 : 450k
Western missionaries to unreached people — the sending model cannot close this gap alone
The question is not whether Western missionaries are faithful. It is whether the remaining task can be finished by visas, furloughs, and support letters. We believe the ends of the earth will be reached the way they always have been — by the people who live there.

01
Identify
We work with local field networks to identify called, gifted national leaders already serving in frontier regions. Men and women with fire, with roots, and with the trust of their people. We don't recruit them to leave — we resource them to stay.
02
Train
Our training is oral, contextual, and delivered in-country. No visa applications. No uprooted families. We bring theological depth and practical church-planting methodology to where they already are — in the languages they already speak.
03
Release
A trained national pastor is released back into his region with a support network, accountability, and the tools to plant churches and train the next generation of leaders. One investment. Generations of multiplication.

What A Pastor
Learns.

Your $85 a month doesn't fund something vague. It funds this: a 24-month, four-phase formation — oral-first, delivered in-country, in the pastor's own language, shaped alongside partners like SLMIF's Servant Leadership Academy. Every module ends in a demonstrated competency, not a certificate on a wall.

Before a man teaches the Book, the Book must have him. Phase I lays the storyline of Scripture, the gospel itself, and the pastor's own soul as foundations — because the frontier forgives many weaknesses, but not a shallow one.

01The Story of God24 hrs
A Creation-to-Christ oral survey of the Old Testament: creation, fall, covenant, exodus, kingdom, exile, and promise. Taught entirely through structured storying so it can be carried without a library and retold around any fire.
CompetencyTell the whole biblical storyline from memory, in the mother tongue, in under an hour — accurately and compellingly.
02The Gospel of the Kingdom24 hrs
The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus — and what the gospel actually is. Special attention to distinguishing the gospel from folk religion, prosperity teaching, and syncretism, the three counterfeits most common on the frontier.
CompetencyPresent the gospel clearly to a hearer from a non-Christian background and answer the five most common local objections.
03Conversion, Calling & Character24 hrs
The pastor's own testimony, assurance of salvation, and call to ministry — examined honestly with a mentor against the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Not everyone continues past this module. That is by design.
CompetencyA written (or recited) testimony and calling statement, affirmed by mentor and home congregation.
04Disciplines of the Shepherd24 hrs
Prayer, fasting, Scripture meditation (oral methods), sabbath, and family worship. The habits that keep a man alive spiritually when he is the only believer for a hundred kilometers.
CompetencyA sustained 90-day rule of life, verified through mentor check-ins.
And Then — For Life Graduation ends the curriculum, not the relationship. Every pastor receives monthly mentor visits, an annual regional gathering with his cohort, ongoing access to oral Scripture resources as they are produced, and a standing emergency line to his field network. We train once. We walk together for life.

  1. Kaikaram · Andhra Pradesh — Mission Impact India

Mission Impact India joins as Partner 002. Led by David Livingstone, the ministry brings its rescue–reveal–restore work among the villages of Andhra Pradesh into the ENDS partner network — and with it, a foothold in the nation with more unreached people groups than any other on earth.

  2. Chiang Mai · Thailand — SLMIF

New Servant Leadership Academy cohort convenes. Leaders from Karen, Thai, and neighboring communities gather at our founding partner's campus for the 123-hour formation track — theological depth, church-planting method, and servant leadership at the core.

  3. Thailand–Myanmar Frontier

Oral Scripture resources reach the borderland churches. Through Dr. Yupho's networks, audio Scripture in S'gaw Karen moves village to village along the frontier — for communities that have never held a page of the Bible in their own tongue.

  4. Eastern Himalayas · Nepal

Church number seven takes root above 4,000 meters. Pastor Dawa reports fourteen villages now touched by house churches no road can reach — and three young men asking to be trained next.

  5. Sahel Region · Mali

Four trained leaders, four new gatherings. Moussa's underground network grows quietly — two villages that had never heard the name of Jesus now host weekly gatherings in family courtyards.

  6. Amazon Basin · Brazil

First baptisms on the river corridor. Luciana baptized eleven first-generation believers at dawn — the first baptisms in 300 kilometers of river in living memory.

Servant Leadership Ministry Foundation

Founded and led by Rev. Dr. Yupho Mathusonsawan (Doctor of Leadership, Fuller Theological Seminary), SLMIF exists to bring leaders back to the basics — forming pastors, evangelists, and disciple-makers across Thailand and Southeast Asia, with deep roots in the Karen and Thai church. Four arms carry the work: a 123-hour cohort academy taught by fourteen international faculty, the Karen Bible college founded in 2010, an annual regional conference, and a Frontline Mission arm — led by Pastor Pornsawan Mathusonsawan — whose motto says it all: Find. Train. Release.
